This work explores my relationship to construction. My father builds houses, so I grew up on construction sites, and I worked for him in my 20s. This experience greatly influenced my artmaking, spatial vocabulary, and how I think about space. The sculptures are made from scraps from my father’s job sites, and the drawing references specific job sites I worked on. This work became part of my larger installation, When One Space Meets Another.
